Hi Reddevil,
I have the same problem with my Hoover Steamvac brushes not turning, but I feel plenty of suction near the circular intake. Does that mean that my turbine is fine? Could it be a belt instead?

Thanks for the reply!
I plan on taking it apart today. Wish me luck!
There is no belt, with the brush block removed, turn unit on, watch the square hole to see if it is turning, if not, then the turbine isn't running. Either it is clogged up or just needs to be replaced.

The brushes on my hoover would not turn either but had plenty of suction, the square hole would not even turn,so my husband took the the screws out and when he got to the black motor ,he took out the screws and foung that the plastic gear was jammed so he put WD 40 on it and pulled it back in place and now it works great.Everything inside is plastic,so check this first....before spending any money on it...Jeanie777...I posted this as my problem also, but my husband fixed it.
